Fly fishing

After a nice fight, the emotion and the beauty of a remarkable rainbow trout returning to its natural habitat at Mawidako Yurt Lodge. The guides provide the best flies. Typical day at Mawidako is 10-20 fish per angler that average 1-4 lbs.
The rivers running through Mawidako benefit from excellent glacial waters and from nearly zero fishing pressure. There are abundant stocks of the 3 trouts species: brown, rainbow and brook that can be fished with dry flies, sinking nymphs and streamers.

A profesional fishing guide leads the fishing activities (one guide for 2 to 3 anglers). Our guide is well recognized in Mendoza. He knows perfectly the area and has explored the fishing zone for more than 15 years.

Various rivers run through the area of the Lodge and offer a variety of courses, as well as different skill levels.
Those who want to reach even more remote areas of the river that are rarely fished, can be escorted by a gaucho to the most exclusive areas.

A fly tying workshop will allow you to complete your fly box with the dayly flies seen by the river. The guides teach fly tying.

You need to bring your own fishing gear as well as warm cloth, the nights in the mountains can be quite cool. Bring also sun protection as the sun is very strong during the day.

At Mawidako we practice Catch & Release, however you can keep some of your catch and the chef will be pleased to cook your best fish.
